Storytelling Analogies and Metaphors – Webinar Recording & Highlights

For the first Great Demo! webinar of 2025, we have Kirk Taylor as a guest speaker who helped us grasp the concept of storytelling using analogies and metaphors. As a video content creator and a Presales manager himself, he’s the perfect man for the job.

Coach Kirk started with a little story about sewing his backpack and used that as an analogy, setting the tone for the rest of the webinar. The main goal of this session is to help you make analogies for your product in a way that will make your presentations more engaging and memorable.

Here are the main takeaways from this session:

  1. Using real-life scenarios that mirror the process or concept you want to explain can help make your presentation a lot easier to understand and remember. You wouldn’t want to make things confusing and complicated for your audience; using analogies can help create clarity and keep your explanations concise.
  2. Following a pattern helps you make it a repeatable process. Here’s Coach Kirk’s pattern for making analogies:
    • Situation → Inspiration → Conclusion → Scene
  3. With analogies, you can create “aha” moments that help position your product as the perfect solution, transition the customer’s vision, and ultimately, close more deals.
  4. You probably won’t be good at it at first but you’ll learn what works best for you. Try to make it simple, easy, and clear.

You’re the one that’s controlling the narrative and that’s why you should be able to present it in a way that will help you win more deals! Watch the replay below 👇
