{"id":43025,"date":"2025-11-21T19:11:44","date_gmt":"2025-11-21T19:11:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greatdemo.com\/?p=43025"},"modified":"2025-11-21T19:11:44","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T19:11:44","slug":"a-painful-logo-slide-lesson-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greatdemo.com\/es\/a-painful-logo-slide-lesson-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Una dolorosa lecci\u00f3n sobre diapositivas de logotipos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cCured me!\u201d I commented to my colleague,<\/p>\n<p>after a visit to a prospect.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He had wondered why I didn\u2019t do a corporate overview<\/p>\n<p>presentation and why I didn\u2019t at least show a \u201clogo slide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I told him the following true story\u2026<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Some years ago, I was leading the sales team<\/p>\n<p>for a Silicon Valley startup.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At that time, we had an extensive corporate overview deck<\/p>\n<p>that described our technology, our founders, our mission,<\/p>\n<p>our investors, our product history, our corporate milestones,<\/p>\n<p>and our slide of customer logos.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We were very proud of what we had accomplished so far!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Our standard practice was to begin prospect meetings<\/p>\n<p>with this presentation to establish our credentials<\/p>\n<p>and set the stage for our product pitches.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It was a very typical sales approach for the time;<\/p>\n<p>we hadn\u2019t yet learned how unnecessary and<\/p>\n<p>how damaging this practice could be!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The scene opens in a well-appointed conference room<\/p>\n<p>with a half dozen prospect players around an executive table.<\/p>\n<p>It was our first visit to this large firm on the U.S. East Coast<\/p>\n<p>and I began with our corporate overview, as usual.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When our logo slide appeared, I noticed one prospect player<\/p>\n<p>sitting at the front of the table lean over and whisper<\/p>\n<p>a few words to his colleague in the next seat.<\/p>\n<p>As he spoke, he pointed to the slide<\/p>\n<p>and shook his head negatively.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Intrigued and a bit concerned I said,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI noticed you reacting to the slide \u2013<\/p>\n<p>are you willing to share what you said?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He responded, \u201cCertainly. See those guys [the logo]<\/p>\n<p>at the bottom-left corner of your slide? We think they\u2019re <em>IDIOTS<\/em><\/p>\n<p>and we\u2019d never purchase anything that they would!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ouch.
